Recently I have been teaching on the doctrine of election from Romans 9. It seems that those who are opposed to this doctrine tend to bring out a standard set of verses that apparently contradict this teaching. For example people say there is no way that God can choose who He wants to bring to salvation while passing over others based on 2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. And they look at you with that see God doesn't want anyone to perish and therefore your doctrine of election can't stand.
Have you ever studied the context of 2 Peter 3:9? Are you also aware of the fact that when studying the Bible to understand what the author meant by what he wrote - "context is considered to be king." I have included a teaching audio on this verse that will give you some great insight into the correct meaning of 2 Peter 3:9.
