In a recent conversation someone shared with me that over 100 people made decisions for Christ in their church. They went on to say to me that the Spirit is doing an incredible annointing and that was obvious because of the number of people that were getting saved. This is the very language that Charles Spurgeon went to battle over in the 1800's. In Spurgeon's day it was called "Baptismal Regeneration" and the term that is now used today is "Decisional Regeneration." My experience over the years in teaching and in conversations with many Christians is the lack of being good "Bereans" (Acts 17:11) in their Bible knowledge to discern truth from error. They have allowed for the most part other pastors, church leaders and Sunday School teachers to tell them what the Bible says and what it means. How upsetting is it, that the average Christian does not even have the tools (yes, the Holy Spirit is the key tool) they need to understand what the Biblical author meant by what he wrote. And instead of learning sound principles of Bible study and doctrine they hear the kind of preaching in video shown below and accept that as "how people get saved."
