Nancy and I are excited to be part of a new Sunday School Class start up in our local church in Charlotte. It was almost four years ago that we launched a start up church that was disbanded in September of 2007. There were some very tough times but in the long run, we both feel the Lord used that four year period to further prepare us for pastoral ministry. Over the past year we have taken our time, prayed and sought the counsel of other Christian friends. And tomorrow we go back into a full time ministry mode with this particular Sunday School Class. We are part of a wonderful leadership team. Each couple is solidly committed to building Christ honoring relationships through the word of God. Our plan is to study 5 basic doctrines of the Christian faith:
1. Doctrine of God
2. Doctrine of man
3. Doctrine of Christ
4. Doctrine of the Spirit
5. Doctrine of salvation
It may have been easy just to step away from the local church after our start up church disbanded. But I am reminded of Heb. 10:25 "not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." This feels like a brand new start and I am exceedingly grateful to the Lord for providing this wonderful opportunity.
For those of you that come and read this blog, as the Lord may lay it on your heart would you pray for us. The goal of the class is simple. We exist to spread a passion for Christ and His word, in such a way that all we say and do will demonstrate His greatness!
