Willow Creek "Reveal Squeal"

Here is some more news regarding Willow Creek Community Church. If you are not up to speed here is a brief summary. A couple of months ago the senior pastor Bill Hybels admitted some mistakes that have been made over the years. One of the most significant comments was the lack of growth and maturity of the saints at Willow Creek. Pastor Hybels went on to say that this was the biggest wake up call of his adult life. It sounded like there was an admission from Hybels that the seeker-friendly church model hasn't worked up to expectations or maybe it just hasn't worked. Now this is where the story starts to get a little sticky. The evangelicals that have been opponents of the Willow Creek model started to blog, write and declare victory. They also thought that Willow Creek was now ready to go back to getting people in the word, prayer and fellowship through a Biblical model of one anothering that we see in the New Testament. But now there is talk that Willow Creek is using this admission as a "marketing tool" if I say ploy that will sound condemning so I will stick with marketing tool. It could be that Willow Creek is going to market their results and then turn this into yet another program, strategy and plan for the seeker-friendly church. Let me just say this I think much of Bill Hybels and have only heard very positive things about him as a pastor and church leader. And even though I oppose the Willow Creek model I must admit they have made quite an impact for Christ.
